A new video originally posted by Roobert33 (now removed from his account) has become the rage among free energy enthusiasts. The open source design shows a V-gate magnet motor that supposedly is made functional (rotation maintained) by means of a mechanical method for moving the stator magnets in and out of the way of the gate ("re-gauging") so that the gate doesn't become a lock-up point that otherwise would stop the motion of the magnet motor.
There have been many demonstrations of transient movement along a V-arrangement of magnets, such that as the magnets are getting closer together (or further apart), forward motion is produced. But when the moving component gets to the end of the V, the advantage gained is counteracted by the opposite polarity that pushes in the opposite direction. Master replicator, CLaNZeR, illustrated this in a video back in August of 2008. He purportedly is now in process of replicating this new V-gate design.
This new design appears to overcome that in a circular arrangement of the V, by physically moving the stationary magnet (the V is in the rotor component) out of the way at the crucial moment. The component at the bottom is probably a magnet to give the rotor a push, just past the sticky point, keeping its distance except for at that moment. The mechanical action is a function of the kinetic momentum of the rotating part – similar to the action of the armature-brush-commutator assembly in an electric motor.
The video is certainly not skeptic proof. It doesn't include the original audio, so the possibility of blowing air being the cause of rotation can't be ruled out. We've seen another such video of a design, the Mecsdgp, that I'm nearly certain was via an air hose.
YouTube user, ZeroFossilFuel commented about this design in an email:
"Non linear acceleration. Several bursts of speed during the presentation. Disregard the joker off camera blowing across the wheel to keep it going whose shadow is seen off to the right every time the bursts occur and whose music masks the sound of his blowing, or possibly compressed air. "Any magnet motor worth a damn will accelerate from a dead stop to speeds of self-destruction in very short order."I don't see the shadow effect he's talking about. I agree that a plausible magnet motor design should rapidly accelerate to destruction without a load; but early working designs showing proof of principle to break the mental barriers are best illustrated in slow motion – if it is indeed a genuine effect.

A common feedback that has come in on this is to the effect: "This is a homemade version of the magnetic toy you can buy at novelty shops. It has nothing to do with OU – it’s just a neat toy with an almost frictionless bearing."

Explanation to replicate: Needed: 4 speakers alike, a cylindrical piece of wood, wood based or plastic, mirror or glass. The magnets are removed from the speakers, two of them are left intact and for include it later in the compartment housing wooden tube. The other two speakers are broken in half to obtain two semi circles and go to paste on the base. At the wooden cylinder at one end tapering to form the tip of the nose and you go to paste a ball of steel. The mirror or glass molded in the shape that you want, it go to paste at the end of the base and remain at 90° on the base. The magnets must be placed on the base in the opposite direction, "to repel each other." At this point you just have to start the replication.....
Not related to the V-Gate, but interesting, and reflects Roobert33's curiosity.

If you look closely at the 'magnets' that he has in the V track, you'll notice that the ends appear to be faced off (as in turned on a lathe to create a smooth finish). This seems to imply that the track is not actually made up of magnets (Neos would actually have a smooth, mirror finish on the ends, not a machined look). These are probably slugs of magnetic steel used to attract to the magnet on the moving arm.

Any force that can be controlled (commutated) by a lesser force can be made in to a motor. Magnets are just one way. Another is just plain old springs! That’s right, but few would think anything so simple could work. While this V gate magnet motor could be a scam, what I said is true and I heard the spring story from a reliable witness, related to the one that did it years ago.
George Soukup's V-Track Rotary Magnet Motor - German inventor presents what appears to embody the V-track magnet accelleration model into rotating motion -- something that many have unsuccessfully attempted.
